Dukungan Pemerintah dalam Pameran Dagang masih Rendah

Sejumlah pengusaha menilai dukungan pemerintah, khususnya Kementerian Perdagangan RI dalam pameran-pameran dagang belum cukup optimal. Pernyataan demikian mengemuka saat Messe Frankfurt Press Conference yang berlangsung kemarin (2/3) di Hotel Nikko. Sementara ini pameran masih diyakini sebagai marketing tool yang efektif untuk menggenjot penjualan. Salah satu peserta acara ini, usahanya bergerak dalam bidang sound system menyayangkan pemerintah. Pihaknya mencontohkan peserta pameran asal Spanyol yang mengikuti pameran internasional mendapatkan dukungan dari pemerintahnya berupa dukungan sekitar 50% dari biaya peserta pameran. Bantuan demikian tidak terjadi di Indonesia. Padahal, menurutnya, untuk masuk ke pameran internasional yang bergengsi bukanlah hal yang mudah.

Chrisnawan Triwahyuadhianto, Sekretaris Direktorat Jenderal Pengembangan Ekspor Nasional yang hadir dalam acara ini menanggapi hal tersebut dengan mengatakan bahwa Kementerian Perdagangan memberikan bantuan namun per grup bantuannya. Tidak per perusahaan. Pihaknya mengungkapkan pula bahwa biasanya usaha kecil menengah yang mendapatkannya.

Kritik mengenai lemahnya dukungan dalam pameran juga terlontar Satya Brahmantya dari PT. Lunar Cipta Kreasi. Pihaknya menandaskan pentingnya tema pameran sebagai branding. Misalkan seperti yang dilakukan oleh Malaysia dengan “Truly Asia”. Di Indonesia tidak ada tema-tema yang demikian, lanjutnya menjelaskan. Branding dinilainya penting untuk meyakinkan pihak luar negeri. Bahkan, pihaknya mengusulkan branding yang demikian dibuat pengusaha-pengusaha saja, jika dari pemerintah terlalu lama.

Government Support for Trade Fairs still Low

Support from governement, especially the Ministry of Trade, in international trade fairs needs to be optimized. So the statement of a number of local entrepreneurs in the event of Messe Frankfurt Press Conference held yesterday (2/3) at Hotel Nikko. One of the audience, a sound system manufacturer/exporter, finds this pitiful since trade fair is one of the effective marketing tools to boost export sales. As an exhibitor in the international trade fair for events and entertainment technologies, ProLight+Sound, he illustrates how the exhibitors from Spain receive a 50% financial support from the spanish government.

In response to the statement, Chrisnawan Triwahyuadhianto, Secretary General of the Directorate General for National Export Development explained that the Ministry of Trade gives support to a group of exhibitors, and not to an individual. He added that small medium enterprises are more entitled to the financial support.

A similar critisism came from Satya Brahmantya, a designer at PT Lunar Cipta Kreasi, who produces home accessories and furnishings. He stressed the importance of having a theme or tagline in trade shows for brand image. Examples given includes “Malaysia Truly Asia” and “Incredible India”. This kind of branding is deemed necessary to convince foreign buyers. Chrisnawan admits that Indonesia is still probing on the most suitable tagline. Satya calls to fellow businessmen to initiate on creating their own country image instead of waiting the government to make move.
